More Entitlement, Work, and Home Frustrations
I missed yesterday. Oops. I think my over-posting this week will make up for it. I’ll probably write a bit more later tonight, so it’s all good in the end.
Today has been frustrating. New boss at work, I like the man. He’s blunt but can also be a prick. That isn’t the problem. Before he took over, I was one of the highest performers in the department. Kudos to me. He’s made some changes, that moreorless, insinuate that the underperformers better get their acts together or they’ll find themselves promoted to customers. It seems to have worked. This is the first time in seven months I have no work to do – and I have two more hours left in my shift. I’ve been doing nothing for the last hour and a half.
Secondly – I hate people that do not own up to their mistakes. Even worse, I hate people that do not own up to their mistakes and act like it is not their fault.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I’m currently being an adult and buying a house. It’s not the greatest house in the world, but it’s cute and I like it. A lot of cosmetic work needs to be done (house doesn’t look ugly by any means, it just annoys me.) One of the things required by my lender is to do a termite/pest inspection (though, ironically, a house inspection is not legally required for the bank. We care more about termites than we do if there’s a massive leak we were unaware of). I called Monday to schedule. Fifty dollars later, they told me they would be out by Wednesday (today) by the latest. I called them this morning to verify.
They haven’t even scheduled it yet. Her excuse? Oh. My insurance wasn’t working yesterday and I had to leave early.
While I understand that your insurance is important, and definitely get it fixed, it doesn’t concern me. Also – why would you have to leave to get your insurance figured out? Lastly: How is that my fault? You’ve had nearly 72 hours to get it scheduled. The house is approximately ten minutes away from your office.
Don’t get me wrong – I hate entitlement and I was borderline with that attitude today. But insinuated that this was my fault. Even worse? She lectured me, smarted off that they will contact the listing agent and schedule for next week. Then proceeded to hang up on me. I believe I got in a total of ten words the entire time.
Funny enough – I received a phone call from my realtor about ten minutes later. They’ll be out tomorrow. Once everything is settled, I’ll pay a bit more for Black Diamond in the future. I love small businesses. But not this one.
