The Roommaister and Bella
Today was interesting and a bit humbling, if we’re going to be totally honest. Work was a shit show, but that is nothing new.
My Roommaister and I went car shopping today. Her old car, which was a 20-something Kia Optima finally crapped out on her and she’s been using mine in the meantime. We went to our local John Jones, and she had her eyes set on a 2016 Chevy Cruz. Which is, surprisingly, a really nice car. We test drove it and she immediately fell in love. After almost three hours of paperwork, conversations, and insurance annoyance, we left in her newish car. I haven’t seen her this happy in a long time, and it was humbling.
She began to thank me after, which led me to being very confused. She reminded me that sometime after she had turned 18, I put her as an authorized user on one of my credit cards which built her credit. Recently, in the wake of buying a house, I paid off a lot of debt. The card she was on was entirely maxed out and had been for a long time. Paying that card off shot her credit score up even more.
Side note: I want to point out that this woman actually has a much higher credit score. When, to an extent, annoys the crap out of me. But here we are.
Anyway – she thanked me for giving her a credit score. I don’t know what to call it, but I don’t think this was something to thank me for. In the end, she did it all of herself. Compared to two years ago and today, I am incredibly proud of how far she’s come. Though – she’s officially named her car Bella. Every car she’s owned since I’ve known her, she has given a name. Which is incredibly cute.
No. Not after the Twilight character. We went to Taco Bell after she bought it. It quickly went from Bell to Bella. Taco Bell-a. Get it? Ha ha. Funny funny.
